Details: You run as many laps as you can in 24 hours  This is a fun, cheap event to allow runners to come together and have fun.  We will have food, and also hope to get runners to bring some of their favorite dishes for a long run. Kids are encouraged to come out and do a few laps too just for fun.

This race is run along the same lines as a "Fat Ass" Run: low cost or free, where a group of people get together for a long run. Since this is a loop race, and for 24 hours, it will take a couple dollars to provide you with food, and a timing system. That is the only reason there is a small cost. If you'd like to donate more, or bring your own home cooking or food for others, it will be welcomed. Runners helping runners. Local business and the running community from Colorado Springs to Denver are to likely support this low frills event that will be a blast. More amenities will be announced as it becomes available.

You don't have to run the entire 24 hours! If you want to go home and sleep, or bring a tent, or just do an hour or two, that is highly encouraged! Especially children. Just a few laps is perfectly fine. It's just to get people out there, and having fun talking, running, and enjoying a day in Palmer Lake, Colorado! But remember, the more you run, the more you get your money's worth!

Weather: Mid April can have varied weather in Palmer Lake. You will be up against the mountains, at 7,240 feet. At night the temperature can reach down to freezing if you run through the night. Day time temperatures can be anywhere from 50 to 70 degrees F. Snow is rare, but always a possibility.

What a success the 2014 race was!!!!!

37 runners took part. What an honor to present the kids with their trophies. Maya Bradford, age 8, is an ultramarathon runner. Herman, who never ran over 25 in a race finished with 50 miles. Brooks Williams intended on running 20 miles and ended up with 42. Lauren Penner who'd never run over 13.1 miles finished the day with 50km!  Seems everyone went beyond what they thought possible, or what they intended to do. For a while it looked like Rochelle would win the race, but Jeremy just edged her out with 90 miles to Rochelle's 80.  Only 4 runners ran through the night, the top four placers, indicating that using all 24 hours will likely get you on the podium.
The 6 lbs of bacon at the aid station didn’t last long!
Our old school, last minute, timing system worked perfect. Thank you to all who came out and made 24 hours of running fun.

All in all, everyone still ran extremely well, had fun, enjoyed the event and I'm looking forward to trying to hold it again in May.  Likely the 24th, if I get support from some outside sponsors or supporters.
